ColdQuanta Acquires Super.tech and Readies the Hilbert Processor for Public Access

In another merger between hardware and software companies, quantum technology provider ColdQuanta has acquired software company Super.tech and will establish a branch based in Chicago that will continue to develop quantum software. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. Super.tech is a spinout from the University of Chicago and the Duality quantum accelerator that provides SuperstaQ, a software platform that focusses on providing optimum compiling and pulse level control to make a quantum program as efficient as possible and SupermarQ, an open source benchmarking software suite. Super.tech's software is hardware agnostic and supports many of the quantum hardware platforms and they will continue to do so after the acquisition. Super.tech's  former CEO Pranav Gokhale will be joining ColdQuanta and Super.tech's former Chief Scientist, University of Chicago's Professor Fred Chong will continue to work with them too.

ColdQuanta benefits from this combination in several ways. First, it provides a stronger, more complete offering for potential customers. Second, it provides ColdQuanta with a stronger pipeline for talent with the connections to the University of Chicago, and third, the Super.tech technology will help ColdQuanta accelerate improvements in its Hilbert and other processors by using the Super.tech software to improve metrics like gate fidelity.

ColdQuanta has also started to make their 100 qubit Hilbert processor available. They have started working with their first beta customer who is running jobs on the machine and collecting data. Coldquanta plans on releasing a technical paper with some of the results of these tests in the coming months. They will also be opening up the access to additional beta customers soon through their own direct cloud access service and will integrate the system with one of the larger public cloud services later this year. The machine can be programmed through the Qiskit software platform.
