German Government Funding Construction of a German Quantum Cloud Service for German Industry

The German Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action (in German: Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz or BMWK) will be spending tens of millions of euros to support a three year program to construct a quantum cloud service. Organizations involved in this effort include QMWare, cloud specialist IONOS, the University of Stuttgart, and the Fraunhofer FOKUS research institute. This is one of many quantum computing programs that the BMWK is funding and they are expected to spend a total of 740 Million euros overall. Once this quantum cloud has been put in place, various end users will test out applications in application areas including telecommunications, logistics, finance, automotive and energy. Additional information can be found in a press release available here.
