IonQ Opens a New Quantum Data Center and Expands Management Team

IonQ has opened a 23,000 square foot data center in Maryland that has the capacity to house at least 10 quantum computers. The data center was funded in part by a $5.5 million investment from the University of Maryland and will allow IonQ to expand both the number of available quantum computers and also add additional employees. They also announced that they have hired Denise Ruffner, former Chief Business Office of Cambridge Quantum Computing, as the Vice President of Business Development and Dave Bacon, formerly from Google’s quantum engineering team, as the Vice-President of Software.  For more on these announcements you can view the data center news release here and the news release on the management team additions here.
