The Superconducting Quantum Materials and Systems Center (SQMS), led by the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, is one of five elite National Quantum Initiative centers funded by the U.S. Department of Energy to research various areas of Quantum Information Science (QIS). The program places undergraduate sophomore and junior physics and engineering majors in a paid 10-week summer period from June 18 – August 26, 2023 with SQMS Center scientists and engineers on QIS projects. Interns would be paid $600 per week and students will have the opportunity to work at one of the twenty SQMS partner institutions, including Fermilab, Rigetti Computing, Northwestern University, Ames National Lab, NASA Ames, and more. The position is a 40 hour per week during the 10 week period and students will be expected to deliver presentations, write a research abstract, and develop a research project report on their work.
