The award was provided by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts' Collaborative Research and Development Matching Grant program managed by the Innovation Institute at the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (MassTech). It will be used to create the Experiential Quantum Advancement Laboratories (EQUAL) at Northeastern University’s Innovation Campus in Burlington, Massachusetts. This laboratory will focus on researching quantum sensors and related technologies and they will seek partnerships with other researchers in industry, government, and academia. The project will also help provide workforce training and will help Northeastern's efforts to offer new Ph.D. and Master’s degree programs in Quantum Information Science and Engineering, as well as to create Quantum Information Science certificate and retraining programs.
