The companies will research using Quandela's photonic quantum computers to perform numerical simulations of hydroelectric dam deformation. The goal is the improve the accuracy and speed of these calculations while reducing energy consumption. This will leverage Quandela's expertise in using quantum approaches to solve differential equations and developing algorithms. EDF is a very large French state-owned energy company with sales of €84.5 billion ($83B USD) in 2021 and over 150,000 employees. They have been active in investigated uses of quantum technology since 2018, one of the first French companies to do so. Quandela, founded in 2017 and located near Paris, France, is developing quantum photonic processors and has also create its own photonic computer programming and simulation software package called Perceval. Additional information about this partnership is available in a news release posted on the Quandela website here.
