Update on the Gaussian Boson Sampling Quantum Computer Research in China

Chao-Yang Lu, one of the leaders of the USTC research group, mentioned in a Tweet that the group has a goal of having an 80+ photon, 144 mode device in two months. This would be an increase from the current 50 photon, 100 modes described in the recent Science magazine paper. The group is also working to demo a practical use for the device in 2021.
