Worldwide Map of Quantum Research Activity

Everyone knows that people are researching quantum computing all over the world. But, as typically happens with technology, there can appear technology clusters in certain geographic areas that have a much higher density of researchers than others.

Members of the Netherlands Innovation Attaché Network team worked with the Quantum Computing Report to create the map below that shows worldwide quantum research activity and where some of the quantum technology clusters are located. Key cluster areas they have identified in the U.S. include Santa Barbara, Berkeley, Seattle, Chicago, and the Washington D.C. metropolitan area.

We thank Dr. Ulrich Mans from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands for providing this information and recommend an associated blog article titled Quantum in the US: the dawn of a new era which provides their assessment of quantum activity from the Dutch point of view.
