Zurich Instruments Unveils a New Qubit Controller for Superconducting Qubits

Zurich Instruments SHFQC Qubit Controller. Credit: Zurich Instruments

Zurich Instruments new product, called the SHFQC, provides both qubit control and readout in one unit for up to 6 qubits. It combines the capabilities of their SHFSG Signal Generator for generating microwave pulses and their SHFQA Quantum Analyzer for readout into one box. It is specifically well suited for researchers who are working with small systems, but want to have control electronics that is compact, quick to set up and intuitive to operate. The unit operates at up to 8.5 Ghz. and provides 6 control channels and 1 readout channel for qubits, qutrits or ququads. The unit has many of the features of the previous Zurich Instrument devices including room temperature operation, like low noise characteristics, real time operation with low latencies, elimination of mixer calibration requirements, and compatibility with Zurich Instruments LabOne software. Multiple units can be connected together or with other Zurich Instruments devices for larger systems, but the SHFQA signal generator and SHFSG readout units will still be available since using these may be a more efficient solution for some system configurations. For more about this new quantum control electronics product, you can view Zurich Instruments press release announcement on their web page as also a product page for the unit that includes detailed specifications.
